Our Way of Hosting
The Foundation is a place
where connection,
awareness,
and remembrance
can arise.
It invites.
It observes.
It reveals.
Whatever grows from this
belongs to life itself.
Why?
We wanted to nurture creativity.
So we went looking for its source.
There we found nothing new.
Only something that had always been there.
Where people notice one another with attention,
give each other space,
and value their differences,
more good often comes to light
than can ever be produced.
This experience belongs to no one.
It seeks to convince no one.
It speaks for itself.
What do we do?
The Widukind Foundation does not seek
to define what is essential.
It seeks to create the conditions
under which it may reveal itself.
That is why
a place of encounter
of enabling
is taking shape in Szakony—
for music, theatre, dance
conversation, lectures,
workshops,
silence,
working in the fields,
celebration,
and human encounter.
Not as a finished place,
but as a place
continually coming into being.
What guides us?
Over time,
we searched
for the simplest possible principle.
One word remained.
Uplifting.
Not elevated.
Not lofty.
But supportive.
We therefore do not first ask
whether something is exceptional.
We ask:
Does it support the shared space?
Does it help people
to notice one another?
Does it create openness?
If so,
it belongs.
If not,
it remains a possibility.
Not everything
needs to be decided today.
What do we mean by enabling?
To enable
does not mean
to make the ground stand out.
It means
allowing the water
to become still,
so that the ground
and whatever wishes to reveal itself,
can be seen.
This is how we understand
hospitality.
This is how we understand
education.
This is how we understand
creativity.
What happens then?
Sometimes
an encounter
brings clarity.
Or openness.
Or relief.
Sometimes
a performance has depth.
Not because it is heavy.
But because it becomes clear.
Like a lake.
The ground
is not created.
It is simply
no longer hidden.
Each person
sees something different.
And that is perfectly natural.
How do we understand our task?
We understand the Foundation
as an open place.
As a basket
hanging within easy reach.
For sharing
what uplifts people.
Not
so that something new
must come into being.
But because
so much is already there,
always ready
to begin again.
The Book
Our book,
The Moment,
does not seek
to convince.
It seeks
to bring relief.
It tells
of everyday encounters
where language remains simple,
where vulnerability
and dignity
stand side by side,
and where what is essential
is not explained,
but allowed
to become experience.
Not a theory of life.
But an invitation
to trust
one's own life again.

The space that opens
belongs to itself.
We do not need
to improve it.
We may simply
walk through it together
as guests,
discovering
what reveals itself.
The true gift
